Questions?

We have answers!

  • Every Great Dog uses a balanced dog training philosophy. This means that we use positive reinforcement techniques (ie: food, toys…) to build and reward the dog for making the correct behavior choice. On the flip side of this, we also use clear and effective behavior interrupters to communicate to the dog that certain behaviors are unacceptable. Dogs, like humans, need feedback so they can understand what is expected of them. Our methods take care of jumping, barking and other self reinforcing behaviors fairly quickly. When we interrupt a chain of behaviors, we can get a very clear message across that certain behaviors are not desirable while others are.

  • The first portion of our consult we will discuss the areas you would like to see improvement in your dog’s behavior. The trainer will ask questions about your dog’s history, prior training, personality and health. We will discuss in detail the behavioral issues you are having and to answer any questions you may have.

The second portion of the consultation will be hands-on work. This is when we will begin to address and even start to work on how to rectify the problem areas. We always leave you with some new ideas to help you along before training starts.

  • If your dog needs to work on reactivity or behaviors that frustrate you we ask that your dog is either in a crate or in another room so we can chat at first then work with your dog.

If your dog is not highly food motivated we suggest not feeding your dog for two hours prior to the consult.

  • We feel that it can be overwhelming and stressful for your dog to sleep away from the comfort of home. With our Boot Camp your dog trains with us but sleeps at home.

  • We accept Venmo and credit cards via Square.

  • While we understand that sometimes you may need to re-schedule your session we strongly encourage you to keep your training sessions. Your session is booked exclusively for you and your dog please make every effort to make your scheduled appointments.

If a session is cancelled or rescheduled without 24 hours notice that session will be forfeited.

If your trainer reschedules your training session without 24 hour notice you will be given a free session to use whenever you like for the life of your dog.

All no-show appointments will be forfeited.

  • Yes! We love working with kids so that they too can learn how to train your dog in a way where change will be lasting. We have many engaging and fun exercises for kids to practice with the family dog.

  • We understand busy families and therefore we never require every member of your household attend training sessions or the consultation. It is important that the dogs primary caregiver be present so positive change can take place. We encourage the whole family to get involved as much as they are able. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • We do not prorate, refund or credit for missed classes. You are welcome to drop in on the class you missed the next time we run that class. Additionally you will still receive the homework for that week.
